Wow, it's been a while since I've logged into here, huh?
Well, needless to say, I suffered a really horrible artistic slump. I didn't feel like picking up my pencil, let alone the mouse, or opening MSPaint...
But just yesterday I was browsing through SpritesInc as I usually do when I'm attempting to re-ignite my passion for spriting, and I notice that they STILL don't have ANY of GyroMan's sprites from the Neo-Geo Pocket game "RockMan: Battle and Fighters".
As the name might give away, it's pretty much an 8-bit version of Power Battles AND Power Fighters all packed into one game. It's awesome and worth a try if you've ever wanted to see those games in an 8-bit style. The music sucks like no tomorrow, though...
Anywho, where was I?
Yeah, after I saw that, I remembered that I had, long ago, downloaded a Neo-Geo Emulator and that very game rom to my computer, and lo, I started ripping!
Now I'm not sure how everyone else does it, but for me it's a rather complicated process.
I have to play the game at it's smallest window setting so all the sprites are at their proper, non-inflated, non-blurred sizes.
I then have to REPEATEDLY, and PERFECTLY pause the game between various poses for each character, hit the printscreen button on my keyboard to capture the image of my computer window as it is.
Then I crop out the part of that screencapture with the character in it, and proceed to eliminate the background out of it so that only the sprite remains.
Then the sprite is placed on the board somewhere.
Repeat about 50 gajillion times, and there you have what I did for almost 2 hours wednesday night.
Anywho, after ripping those sprites, and saving them to my computer so I could (if I ever figured out how, that is.) submit them to sprites inc, and GyroMan fans the world over would have access to capcom's best 8-bit GyroMan sprites, I began to look over them and think, "Y'know, I could make this look better.".
And so I created a new file and added FC to the end of the original title (Flare Custom).
I thus began editing and cleaning them up and coloring them in and all sorts of spiffy things.
It was after this that I was once again an awesome spriter. My inspirational block had been lifted, with the strength of TEN Grinches, PLUS two!
How awesome was this inspiration, you ask? Well it was So awesome, that I made a completely new spritesheet for GravityMan. The old one was big and clunky and just did not look too good at all. But now the spriter is smaller and definitely sharper-looking than it's predecessor, with several more poses, to boot!
I got this one pose that looks like he's shooting at you while dashing backwards, it's so awesome...
In fact, I'll post up that spritesheet after I finish this journal entry!
Anywho, I'll be re-doing a LOT of other Robot Master sprites as well. I probably won't continue my goal of spriting every single Robot Master that ever existed, but I will definitely at least try to get all my favorites down.
Currently on the list...
GyroMan
StarMan
CrystalMan (You can see his unfinished spritesheet in the Works In Progress section. I'm totally gonna finish that up now.)
The post on Sephi's art. My offer is that you become mod on my board, and more than likely, be part of my website. Kinda like Fireball20xl. What do you think of the offer? If you also want to be paid, you can be. Just need to give me some yrs before I can make such a option.
Ok, it a site that will be the gathering ground for the greatest's comic team. Like if you check out my comic, 'TFS', it sort of what I do. I got two new idea for comics coming up, but I can't handle the site and forum alone. I got my gf as admin, but I will need some mods and more admin, not to mention have alot of great sprite comic artists be helping with the hosting. This land that I call, is Chaos Station.
Well, I'll check it out. But I can't gaurantee I'll join up. I've been getting busier lately, what with having a job now, and all. Thanks for the offer, though.
